I read this book 6 months ago. I believe it was written in the early 90s. It is the first book of the Malazan series. Pretty good book, it's high fantasy. It's got wizards, monsters, warriors, thieves, assassins, gods, alchemists, funny guys and really big guys with huge swords strapped to their back.
