I read this book for the first time 13 years ago. And I read it again recently. It was written by William Gibson and released in 1984. This book is excellent. It might be my favorite book of all time. The story is very interesting and the writing is top quality.
Quick side story. Years ago I was driving across the US, from the west coast to the east coast. On the second to last day I was extremely tired and could no longer drive. I pulled over at the next town to stay the night. The town was Wytheville, Virginia. Later I learned that William Gibson grew up in Wytheville.
