    A bunch of people got it that shouldn't have for various reasons. Not too surprising given the unprecedented pandemic.

      I think there was a lot of "oh I'll just apply, what's the harm" followed by "oh shit oh shit they're going to check these later to make sure they're legit?"

        So they were just giving to anyone that applied and not actually checking the application?

          Yeah they were trying to get cheques to people as fast as possible, so there was no checking at all. They figured they'd do the checking at tax return time.

            I remember that now. People were saying they could do it in like 5 minutes online.
