I participate in a lot of online developer communities. I constantly come across comments from other programmers about how much they hate cryptocurrencies, how NFTs are a scam, and how the entire blockchain ecosystem will cease to exist in the near future.
It makes no sense to me. Cryptocurrency has been around for 13 years. Society is dumping more and more money into it. Dapps are becoming more numerous and gaining more traction. Entire countries are acknowledging their usefulness. And you think this is all some scammy scheme that's going to disappear soon?
The vast majority of established developers are specialists because it's much easier to find work that way. Some specialists even consider working in a different stack a resume taint. Hence, a lot of the developer NFT outrage is probably a lot of specialists that are frustrated they can't participate. Of course, any specialist programmer can choose to learn Solidity and build dapps, but that's not really what a specialist does.
Regardless, there are all these developers up in arms over blockchains and I don't get it. My take away is that it indicates that this is going to be one of the most disruptive technologies we've ever seen up to this point.
